The City of Canterbury and its Cathedral are within easy reach being 11 miles by road. There you will find many attractions and excellent shopping - both in the newly built shopping centre and the narrow, winding back streets where you can almost taste the history. Ashford (6 miles) has excellent shopping facilities and, with both Eurostar and the Channel Tunnel being within easy reach, a day trip to France is a genuine option.

There are numerous castles and places of interest to visit along the historic coastline, notably Dover Castle with its dungeons, intact battlements and underground World War 2 caves. The coastline itself has many sandy beaches and you will often find local fishermen selling their catch fresh.
