The Devil's Kneading Trough. Offering fabulous views towards Ashford, this spectacular scenery was formed about 100,000BC when upward earth movements produced a dome which was eroded to create the Downs. The hills are characterised by steep-sided valleys of which this is the most famous. Restaurant and free parking.

Canterbury is a must to visit. As well as it's historic and beautifully maintained Cathedral, there are many other attractions within this World Heritage Site and a wealth of restaurants cafe's and pubs. There is a limited bus service from the village or you can drive in approximately 20 minutes.

As well as the Cathedral, there is the Canterbury Tales - A fascinating audiovisual experience sited in the heart of the city and one of Canterbury's most popular visitor attractions. Step back in time to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the Middle Ages.

Then of course there is plentiful shopping and a multitude of cafe's, bars and restaurants in the historic back streets and alleys. And also, within the district of Canterbury, you also have the option of some excellent coastal trips including Whitstable with it's fabulous seafood vendors and restaurants, Herne Bay and Margate.

Dover Castle offers a full day's outing. Discover its labyrinth of secret wartime tunnels built in the White Cliffs. Sights, sounds and Pathé news clips bring the drama of its strategic role in WWII alive. Walk through the rooms where Sir Admiral Ramsay planned the “miracle of Dunkirk” and tour the underground hospital following the story of a wounded pilot. Above ground, check out one of Europe’s best-preserved Roman lighthouses, and visit the Siege Experience of 1216.

The pretty village of Wye (c.3 miles) has much to offer including the famous Wye Crown (pictured). a picturesque, 'old England' railway station by the river, a historic college, farmers market and beautiful church. With several excellent pubs, a micro-brewery, coffee shop and several shops, it makes for a perfect day out.
