from Hastingleigh or approximately 15 minutes drive
by car.

Offering fabulous views towards Ashford, this
spectacular scenery was formed about 100,000BC when
upward earth movements produced a dome which was
eroded to create the Downs. The hills are
characterised by steep-sided valleys of which this
is the most famous. Continual freezing and thawing
of the soil during the later glacial period caused
the thawed mud to ooze slowly downhill like
‘porridge to form this dramatic valley. Restaurant

outing. Discover its labyrinth of secret wartime
tunnels built deep in the White Cliffs of Dover.
Sights, sounds and pathe news clips bring the drama
of its strategic role in WWII alive. Walk through
the rooms where Sir Admiral Ramsay planned the
“miracle of Dunkirk” and tour the underground
hospital as you follow the story of a wounded
wartime pilot. Above ground, check out one of
