“Traditional farming values with a modern, eco-friendly approach.”

21 minute drive from Crabtree Farm

Chartham Vineyard
Burnt House Farm, Station Road
Chartham, Canterbury
Kent, CT4 7HU

What the owners say:

“Chartham Vineyard, close to the historic city of Canterbury in East Kent, is owned by Dr Roz Waller and her husband Richard Goodenough and managed by Richard’s son, Andy. Vines were first planted here in 2013, in part of our family farm where soils match the terroir of the Champagne region of France.

We work with the highly respected John Worontschak and Mathieu Elzinga of Litmus Wines to turn our grapes into wine. Right from the first vintage, the quality of our wines has been recognised through awards including a Gold Medal for our first sparkling Blanc de Blancs (from chardonnay grapes harvested in 2016).”

“Barnsole is a boutique Kent vineyard and winery, and a handful of passionate wine makers who strive to produce premium quality Kentish wines.”

38 minute drive from Crabtree Farm

Barnsole Vineyard Limited
Fleming Road
Staple, Canterbury,
Kent, CT3 1LG

What the owners say:

“Our vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in Kent, situated between the historic city of Canterbury and the delightful Cinque Port town of Sandwich. This is fertile land that has been farmed since ancient times. The loam soil over Thanet Sand regularly offers-up relics, such as Napoleonic buttons, musket balls and the odd clay pipe that was discarded by a farm hand long ago.

Barnsole’s situation delivers the perfect geology and climate to produce the high quality grapes that make our award winning English wines. We diligently nurture our vines throughout the growing season, listening carefully to what the vineyard tells us. Only when we have heard its whisper can we harness the goodness of each wondrous season. We sell English sparkling and English still wines directly to the public from the winery door.”

“Westwell is located just beneath the Pilgrims Way on the North Downs in Kent; a route used for centuries by Pilgrims travelling to Canterbury. We grow four different varieties – Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Ortega.”

Westwell Wine Estates
The Vyneyarde, Westwell Lane
Charing, Ashford
Kent, TN27 0BW

What the owners say:

“Our estate boasts an ideal mix of climate, aspect and soil. There are six classified soil geologies here; and the varieties have been planted with these in mind. Chardonnay is situated on shallower, chalky soils where flint proportions are highest and where it captures the evening sun best. The Pinots are on mixed sand / chalk soil, and our Ortega is planted in the sandiest, most sheltered spot of all to fully develop its fruit-forward, aromatic style.

All our wines are made on-site from fruit grown on our estate. This gives us complete control of the full process and ensures an end product that we can be really proud of.”
