We’ve long held values in sustainability, and actively reduce our carbon emissions. We’re determined to play our part in creating a better future.

Home Grown

BY 2024 WE’LL BE GROWING OUR OWN PRODUCE

Growing our own organic fruit and vegetables with the greatest care, in a way that respects and maintains the environment around us.

We as a family enjoy sharing seasonal, local, organic food. We believe that producing food naturally by following the environmental rhythms, is not only best for the future of our planet, but also for our personal wellbeing.

We produce nutritious, organic fruit and vegetables which are cooked on-site for our family and our guests to enjoy. We also purchase organic good and services locally whenever possible.

Don't Waste a Scrap

A FEW SMALL CHANGES CAN  GREATLY REDUCE THE WASTE WE PRODUCE.

We reduce, reuse and recycle at every opportunity, and value the true cost of real food. By following these simple steps we can all contribute to the sustainability of Crabtree Farm.

OUR STABLES HAVE A SUBPOD: TURNING FOOD WASTE INTO GREENSPACE

The simple way to compost food waste and grown healthy food. Subpod is a below-ground composting system that converts your waste into rich food for our soil. We use this spoil to feed our gardens and grow herbs for you to use.

WHAT CAN YOU COMPOSTED?

Most food waste can be composted in Subpod without worry.
Fruit and vegetable scraps, eggshells (crush them first), coffee grounds, used tea leaves, spoiled plant-based milks, grains, pastas, breads, snack foods, nuts (and their shells), seeds, pits…

PLEASE NO
Meats, seafood and dairy foods, citrus, onions, spicy herbs, peppers, dairy foods and oils…

HOW YOU CAN HELP?

Bring as little single-use plastic to the farm as possible.

Buy products that are recyclable or have recyclable packaging and recycle them appropriately.

Make use of our food waste bins, enabling us to compost.

Use water with consideration.

Clean Energy

BY 2025, CRABTREE FARM WILL BE 75% ENERGY SELF-SUFFICIENT

We have an Air Source heat pump in the North and South Stables and the Old Farm House and The Granary to produce efficient heating. As we develop and improve the farm, we have plans to install solar panels in the fields to run the full site, with our aim being to achieve a high energy performance rating. In doing so, this will mean that Crabtree Farm will be as close to carbon-neutral as possible.

Biodiversity

WE ACTIVELY MAINTAIN OUR LAND TO GET THE BEST OUT OF IT.

We passionately promote wildlife in Crabtree Farm; our gardens and wildflower meadows are bee-friendly and attract a range of wildlife. Walking trails across the farm enable people to visit and experience our biodiversity.

BEES ARE ESSENTIAL TO LIFE AS WE KNOW IT.

To help protect them, why not plant some flowers, buy organic where possible and leave a little wild space in your garden.
